K-4 Early Release Adventures APRIL Package
with Alicia Millerson

Not sure what to do with your student every Wednesday when the bell rings for Early Release? Join Theatre Aspen EVERY Early Release Wednesday for our Early Release Adventures! Our programs are flexible to meet your family’s needs - each session is one month long, and families can commit for the full month for a discount, or drop in on any given week when you need a killer adventure to fill your afternoon. Early Release Adventures will take place at Aspen Elementary School for your family’s convenience. Students will meet our teachers directly after school, and set their imaginations wild until 3:15 at their regular release time.
What type of adventures will we go on you ask? After a snack provided by Theatre Aspen and a brief afternoon recess, Adventurers will embark on a trip through stories and characters invented right on the spot in our creative improv games, activating bodies, voices, and imaginations to learn how to be storytellers and innovators. Each session will have a different Adventure Theme, so your young actors can play with us all year long and have a fresh experience each month.
At the end of each month’s session, families will be welcome to join us for the last 15 minutes of class to see a demonstration of the improvisation games we’ve been learning that month, which will feature all adventurers whether they’ve been with us the whole month or are dropping in that day.
Our April Adventure Theme Is: Chillin Like a Villian
Session Dates Include: April 2, 9, 16, 23, 30
Wednesdays 1:45-3:15pm at AES
K-1 Minier Musical: Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
with Vanessa Strahan

Open your umbrellas, it’s raining pancakes and syrup in the town of Chewandswallow. The sky serves up three square meals a day, until things go wrong and the food pouring down starts to destroy the town! Learning to listen, collaborate, and make creative decisions through story, song, and dance, students will culminate this 5 week program in a performance for friends and family.
When: Thursdays April 3rd - May 1st, 3:45-5:00pm
Where: Theatre Aspen Studio at the Red Brick Center for the Arts
Who: Current Kinder & 1st Grade students at any school
AES Students may take the F (Fox) bus from the elementary school directly to the Red Brick Center and be picked up directly from the bus by the Theatre Aspen instructor.
ACS, ACDS, BES, or other students can be dropped off directly at the Red Brick Center.
8th-12th: Vocal Studio - Singing for Actors
with Dory Light

Are you an actor ready for focused vocal training? Using the Studio model from collegiate musical theatre programs, students will receive individualized coaching, give and get structured group feedback, and work on technical skills like reading music, analyzing lyrics and vocal lines, and honing how to convey emotion through your voice. If you’re ready to move into supporting or principal roles, feel more secure in your auditions, or get closer to professional level performance, this studio is for you!
All singers will be required to come in with two songs (one uptempo and one downtempo) already learned, so that work time in class can be focused on leveling up performance rather than teaching music.
Studio participants will be sent an info document after registering with details about what and how to prepare!
Grade Range: 8th-12th
When: Mondays 4-5:30pm, April 7th - May 12th
Where: Theatre Aspen Studio at the Red Brick Center for the Arts

Back by popular demand! Theatre Aspen Double-Header Skill Camps dive into two core skills for actors. Students are given the opportunity to attend either the morning session or afternoon session or register for both to unlock a full day gaining insight into two facets of the performing arts. These camps are fast-paced and provide dynamic challenges for middle school students. Double the skills, double the fun!
Please note: Actors in the morning and afternoon sessions spend the same amount of time engaging with their respective skills. The morning session takes a 30-minute snack break which accounts for the time difference between the two skill camps.
