Summer 2024

5th-8th: Stage Combat (Morning Camp)

Session is designed for students entering 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th grade. 

Tuition: $190

The first rule of Fight Club is don’t go, come to Stage Combat camp instead! We’ll learn the basics of stage combat including hand-to-hand fighting, found object ‘weapons’, and crafting the perfect onstage death. Combatants will learn about the three S’s of stage combat, telling a story through movement, and how to responsibly “fight” with your friends. 

Friends and Families: please join us for a sharetime class on June 14th!

Campers can join us for full days of camp this week by registering for both Stage Combat and Beginner Bards. Campers enrolled in both camps will join our full day camps for lunch between their two camp sessions. 

K-1st Program #1: Journey to Oz

Singing and dancing and game-play oh my! Follow us on a magical trip down the yellow brick road to OZ. Each session is designed to fill your imagination with creative play, classic songs from The Wizard of Oz, and art projects all centered around Frank L. Baum’s beloved characters. Young actors will conclude camp with the satisfaction of creating an original story exploring the theme of ‘there’s no place like home.’

5th-8th: Beginner Bards (Afternoon Camp)

Session is designed for students entering 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th grade. 

Tuition: $190

Comedy, tragedy and heightened language blend together for our second half-day camp: Beginner Bards. This session navigates Shakespeare's famous texts, using them like a map to uncover their deeper meaning. Build your foundation of Willy Shakes’ language so you’re prepared to audition for future Summer Shakespeare in the Park productions, or just to tackle that Hamlet assignment your Language Arts teacher gave you. We’ll make decoding Shakespearean speech fun by doing it as intended - LIVE onstage.

2nd-3rd Two Week Production #1: Dinostars - A Musical Variety Show

They sing, they dance, they'll make you laugh if you give them a chance! Here come the Dinostars - taking the stage to entertain you with heroic and Mesozoic acts of fun! Young performers will roar out loud and stomp their feet producing the musical extravaganza: Dinostars, with words and music by John Jacobsen and Mark Brymer. 

In our brand new Two Week Production Camps, 2nd and 3rd Graders will have a chance to put a show on its feet including auditioning for characters, memorizing lines and songs, and working with costumes, props, and a set! Dinostars is a musical, and will have singing, acting, and dancing. 

This camp will take place over two weeks, ending in a performance on June 28th.

4th-7th Summer Youth Musical: Finding Nemo Jr.

Join us for our annual Summer Youth Musical - this year dive down to the coral reef and get ready to touch the butt in Finding Nemo Jr! Beginning this year, our Summer Youth Musical is for actors entering 4th-7th grade.

Past Shows have included: Shrek Jr., James in the Giant Peach Jr., Willy Wonka Jr. and more.

Put another dime in the jukebox baby! If you love showing off with your air guitar, busting a move, and wearing sunglasses indoors - this is the session for you! This week we are going to take our charisma to the next level with your favorite ROCK hits! Campers will form their own band and conclude the week with a concert of classic jams with a new twist.

K-1st Program #3: Little Miracles!

“Even if you’re little, you can do a lot.” Theatre Aspen is proud to revisit the music and story of Matilda Jr. after successfully revolting against The Trunchbull this Spring! Campers are empowered to explore the journey of the brave heroine Matilda. With classes in singing, dance, acting, and design, watch your child’s confidence and creativity grow before your eyes. Camp culminates in an original performance featuring the music of this modern classic and themes of self-acceptance, family, and standing up for what is right.

4th-8th: Design Lab (Morning Camp)

$215

Session is designed for students entering 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th grade. 

No camp on Thursday, July 4th

Tuition: $215 (tuition cost reflects inclusion of materials fee for design heavy camps)

Calling all future scenic designers, prop masters, and crafters! This camp is filled with opportunities to design and construct technical elements for Finding Nemo Jr the musical!  Bring our show to life with different projects designed to strengthen your creative thinking skills. This week will stretch your imagination and open up the world of theatrical design to you. All work completed at the end of Design Lab will be featured during the performances of Finding Nemo
