It's a "big bright beautiful world" as everyone's favorite ogre, Shrek, leads a crew of fairytale misfits on an adventure to rescue a princess and find true acceptance. Our 3rd-6th grade musical is a fantastic opportunity for young performers at all skill levels to gain or further onstage experience. With classes in singing, dance, acting, and design, watch your child’s confidence and creativity grow before your eyes. This program culminates in a fully staged production of Shrek the Musical Jr. Based on the Oscar-winning smash hit film, Shrek Jr. is a hilarious show that offers a heartwarming message for the whole family: what makes us special, makes us strong.

In this program designed for all skill levels, you’ll perform hits from shows composed of classic jukebox jams, creating a brand new story to tie them all together.

Time to bring your imaginary friends to life in Theatre Aspen’s “Imagine That.” You will design and create the character that is your imaginary friend. Throughout the week the two of you will go on adventures in acting and imagination. By the end of the week, you and your imaginary friend will get to show off and talk about your adventurers for your friends and family.

Calling all jesters, jokesters, and wisecrackers! Join us to learn the tricks of the comedy trade and take your physical comedy skills up a notch by using full bodies, voices, and imaginations. We’ll laugh and clown around all the way to a showcase demonstrating our thigh-slapping, rip-roaring jokes, scenes, and skills.

Whip your auditioning & callback skills into shape with this three day Masterclass. On Day One, actors will come in with a prepared monologue and song and receive critique on their auditioning skills, as well as participate in a professional style dance call. Day Two will feature callback material, including cold reading and sight singing, and a resume workshop. Day Three will culminate in another set of auditions, this time with feedback from Theatre Aspen’s artistic staff and members of the MainStage summer company. If you’re ready to step up your game and prepare for the world of professional auditions, this camp experience is for you.

We’ll create our own set and prop designs for an original story we’ll create based off of the imaginative story of Shrek the Musical Jr. “I’m a Believer” that this week will be full of incredible designs, stories, and fun!

There is no business like show business and in this session, campers will be immersed in every detail of the musical-making process. Using playwriting, directing, choreographing, and performing skills, campers will prepare an original musical in just one week featuring parodies of well known songs. Collaboration and storytelling take center stage in this unique offering!
